QUERY CORNER
posted: Jul. 14, 2006

We have two queries this week, both are about bridges.
The first is for the Keystone avenue bridge across White River. When did this bridge open? The second is for the bridge across White River at 64th Street. When was this bridge taken down? For those readers new to the area, 64th Street used to cross the river near Washington Boulevard. There was an iron bridge that carried 64th over to Holliday Park. The bridge abutments can still be seen from the levee.
If you have an answer to one of our queries, please contact us at info@broadripplegazette.com, call 317-759-4825, or come to one of our History Saturday get-togethers. Readers can also submit queries. The subject doesn't have to be history related.
Don Hughes (our readers will remember that Don produced a DVD about his childhood memories growing up in the area) brought an answer to a query to a History Saturday. I asked if anyone knew where the Broad Ripple Pastry Shop was located. He found a listing in a 1950 Yellow Pages for 6318 Guilford Avenue. This would put it in the north section of what is now Rouge (once The Patio).
