A new clothing and accessory store opened on Westfield Boulevard in May. Envy, located on the canal at 826 Westfield Boulevard, next to the Broad Ripple Seafood Shack, is billed as "Arrogant Apparel for the Beautiful". Patrice Bullock, owner of Envy, previously had a shop at Washington Square. "I had been looking for more of a boutique space," explained Patrice. "Broad Ripple was an obvious choice. Rob [Sabatini, owner of the property and of the Seafood Shack] is a good guy. He made us a great deal on this house on Westfield Boulevard and we couldn't pass it up. So we moved Envy to Broad Ripple. Our boutique is perfect for this house."

Just about everything is available at Envy - dresses, shorts, t-shirts, jeans, shoes, jewelry, purses, and sunglasses. Envy offers what Patrice calls "club wear" and some casual clothing. Patrice is a graduate from F.I.T. (Fashion Institute of Technology) in New York City. She is looking at several vendors to find the right one to make her designs. Eventually she plans for Envy to carry only her own line of clothing. "All of our fashions come from L.A. We only buy a small number of each piece for a sense of individuality. You don't want to run into someone in a club wearing your shirt! Our fashions are very affordable, especially considering the quality and detail." Patrice showed me one of her favorite tops that includes some of the details she mentioned - beads, stones, medallions, and decorative stitching applied to the front with a sheer fabric base.

The purses and jewelry at Envy are hand-made. The purses that Patrice showed me are made from coconuts. The finished purses don't look like coconuts, but the small shaped pieces that cover the purse are carved from the shells. The jewelry is from Swanky Jewels, designed by local artist Jennifer McAlpin. "If a customer has a idea for a custom piece, Jennifer can put it together. All of the Swanky Jewels pieces come with a lifetime guarantee." Necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are available, often in one-of-a-kind designs.

Patrice, and all of the employees at Envy, can help customers put outfits together. Many combinations are pre-assembled on hangers or mannequins, but all of the clothes can be rearranged as needed to create the right look. "We can tell when a customer comes in what would look good on them," said Patrice. "We can match that customer with the right clothes to make them look and feel great."

Envy will soon add a make-up studio on the second floor. A professional make-up artist will run the studio. This will make Envy the place to go to before hitting the clubs. The Gazette welcomes Envy to the Village.
