Bagel Clock Displaying Accurate "Spring Time"
posted: Apr. 15, 2005
Our long-time readers know that the Gazette staff has closely watched the huge bagel clock high atop the Ripple Bagel and Deli on Broad Ripple Avenue. The clock has been on our radar screen because all last spring and summer it showed the wrong time. This was due to an incorrect configuration of the computer controls, allowing the timepiece to adjust for daylight savings time - something that Indiana does not follow.
We waited for 2AM on Sunday, April 3, with anticipation. Would the only public clock in Broad Ripple once again become the shame of the village? Would the clock spring forward one hour at the national daylight savings time crossover, or would it keep the good old Indiana time?
We are proud to announce that for the first spring in the history of the Ripple Bagel and Deli, the bagel clock is an accurate chronometer.
What will happen if the General Assembly passes the daylight savings bill for Indiana? You can count on the Gazette to keep you informed.
