Cultural Tourism Initiative Seeks Public Input at June 15, 2004, meeting
by Alan Hague
posted: Jun. 10, 2004

The Indianapolis Cultural Tourism Initiative designated five areas in the city as Cultural Districts in 2002. The only non-downtown district was Broad Ripple Village.
The Broad Ripple Cultural District was awarded a grant from the Indianapolis Cultural Development Commission for two new public art projects, 'Art for the Village: Cultural District Gateways'. One to be located on College Ave at the river, the other on Broad Ripple Ave at Broad Ripple High School.
This spring, requests for qualifications were sent to artists in the greater metropolitan area. A project panel, separate from the Broad Ripple Public Art Advisory Committee of the BRVA, selected three finalists from submissions received in April. These finalists are Gary Abner, Tim Ryan and Stephen Wooldridge. They will present their ideas to the community for the two public art projects on Tuesday, June 15th, 2004, at 7 PM in the Art Center Auditorium. This will be during the regular meeting of the Broad Ripple Village Association. The meeting is open to the public, and comments will be taken.
