Poetic Thoughts - Finding Silence - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Mar. 28, 2008

Poetic Thoughts header

I have been searching for silence within. Sitting quietly, reading books by the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hahn have proved helpful. So too with the Holy Bible.
Below is a poem on the topic:

Finding Silence

high in resentment
low in contentment
restlessness has become me

present-tense
circumstance
keeping one from being free

but the irritability follows
so the source must reside in me

in quiet and solitude
through static and sizzle
peace creeps back in
and a drizzle of hope
a way to cope
emanates from the Source within
through silence finding a friend
