Random Rippling - 66th Baptist Church razed
posted: Aug. 27, 2026
The 66th Street Baptist Church, 918 E. 66th Street [B5 on
map], is no more. Thanks go to Rich Richey for alerting the Gazette to the activity!
The building was built around 1950 as the Lighthouse Tabernacle. Broad Ripple Gazette columnist Paul Walker wrote a few of his columns about it, as he grew up right there in the 1920s.
The Indianapolis City Directories show that is became Broad Ripple Baptist Church in 1968. They show it becoming the 66th Street Baptist Church in 1977.
