Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #260

This historic serial has run on and off in the last 22 years of the Broad Ripple Gazette. The intention is to share the history of Broad Ripple, help people find their ancestors in the text, and to complete the transcriptions of these important early documents.
The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. I will try to include street name changes, such as: Shelby Street became 63rd, then Broad Ripple Avenue, Morgan Street is now Guilford, North is now 64th, Hancock is now Westfield, Light Ave is College. Broad Ripple votes to annex more regions
The Board of Trustees of the Town of Broad Ripple met in special session on the evening of February 27, 1911. All members being present.
Resolution was introduced to annex to the town of Broad Ripple. Marion County. Indiana. The following additions. To wit.
A resolution extending the boundaries of the town of Broad Ripple, Marion County, Indiana, by annexing platted territory without petition and declaring an emergency. The territory known as Schad's Broad Ripple addition as per plat thereof on record in the Recorder's Office of Marion County, Indiana, being a subdivision of part of the N.E. ¼, of Section I, Township 16 N. Range 3 East.
Second Resolution
A resolution extending the boundaries of the town of Broad Ripple, Marion County, Indiana, by annexing platted territory without petition and declaring an emergency.
The territory known as Stoelting and Pye's addition to Broad Ripple being a subdivision of part of the N.E. ¼ of Section I, Township 16 N. Range 3 East, as per plat thereof on record in the Recorder's Office of Marion County, Indiana.
Third Resolution
A resolution extending the boundaries of the town of Broad Ripple, Marion County, Indiana, by annexing platted territory without petition and declaring an emergency.
The territory known as North View addition, being a subdivision of parts of The S.E. ¼ of Section I, and the N.E. ¼ of Section 12, both of Township 16 N, Range 3 East, as designated on the plat books in the Recorder's Office of Marion County, Indiana.
Each of the above resolutions were read and passed separately upon third reading of same and were declared to be in full force from and after their passage.
No further business coming before the Board they stood adjourned.

Next session Tuesday evening, February 28 - 1911. All members being present.
The board met for the purpose of having submitted to them an ordinance or amended franchise relating to a change in the forms (?) changed by Traction Company to and from the City of Indianapolis.
The ordinance was read by the clerk and was taken up by the board and considered. The meeting was then given over to a public hearing upon the question and a lengthy discussion was had in regard to the essential functions(?) of the ordinance.
A motion was made. And passed that the Board should consider the proposition further until Friday evening, March 5, 1911, at which time there should be a special meeting to make a disposition of the ordinance.
No further business coming before the board they stood adjourned until Friday evening March 5 1911

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Broad Ripple met in special session Friday evening, March 3, 1911, for consideration or disposition of ordinance relating to changes in forms to and from the City of Indianapolis on Interurban and Broad Ripple line.
Upon third reading, the ordinance was passed by unanimous vote of the board, and a copy of the ordinance is hereto attached on 108 of this journal and becomes a part of these minutes.

No further business coming before the board, they stood adjourned until next regular meeting. Night, Tuesday, March 7, 1911.
