Reader Random Rippling - BR Kiwanis Garlic Mustard Pull
posted: May 14, 2026
From The BR Kiwanis: "We extracted the Garlic Mustard (Alliaria petiolata) because one plant can produce more than 7,000 seeds before dying. These plants smother out spring wildflowers and produce toxins to prevent the growth of native plants. Our club has helped reduce the presence of this invasive in Broad Ripple Park since 2021 by hand pulling this weed in the early Spring to allow our natural native plants to flourish. Kids deserve good parks!"
