Attendees signed in
One of the activities upon arrived was to put pins into a map indicating where we live, work and play. Another was to vote on example of various type of public art from other places.
Julia Money Moore opened the meeting
Julia Money Moore, Director of Public Art at the Indy Arts Council, ran the meeting. She explained the purpose of the Master Plan - what it is and what it is not. The completed plan will be used to steer resources to areas of the Village to add new or modify existing public art. It is not a plan of specific projects. The team will survey the Broad Ripple plan area, mapping out all public art found. With the help of the public, as in this meeting, ideas on what the residents desire will be used to develop the plan.
The meeting broke into small groups for each to list what important thoughts about art in the Village.
Marissa Byers is in charge of public engagement with the developing plan. Olive Pulfer is mapping existing art and organizing the plan data.
It was refreshing to hear that this plan, as it develops, with be transparent to all. The details can be seen on-line. Continuous public comments are welcomed via email.
