Reggie Thornton owns Vintage Vibe which is located at 2325 East 52nd Street [OO31 on map]. He recently explained how he had designs on clothing at an early age and ultimately became an entrepreneur.

"I have always been into the collective ballgame. My father used to take me to garage sales when I growing up, but I didn't have enough money to buy things at a price that I could afford," he explained.

His emphasis on a niche market of clothing sharpened his vision as he changed careers as he tapped into certain retail clothing trends.

"I focus on older African-American pieces that I have found from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s to the early 2000s. I have found a lot of these items at garage sales, but also there is a lot of clothing that sits in peoples' basements that never gets seen by the general public. As I looked inside shopping malls at their merchandise and clothes, there were items that wouldn't be seen for five to six years elsewhere. As I saw Thrifty Threads across the street when I was 13, I noticed their items were cheaper than major department stores and that is where I wanted to bring Vintage Vibe into South Broad Ripple, which is a growing area. With Naptown Threads (at 2174 East 54th Street), these places inspired me to find and offer African-American items to the public. With these three locations, you can find a variety of clothing at these establishments," he noted.
