While I was at the American Legion Broad Ripple Post #3 recently for an awards dinner, I found out that there is an annual Broad Ripple gathering at the Red Key Tavern, 5170 N. College Avenue [PP23 on map], to celebrate the US Marines birthday. This year is the 250th birthday for the Marines. When I went to the Red Key Tavern for pictures, Chris Wright, Jeanine Allen, Chris's son Patrick and daughter-in-law Becky were there.

Chris told me that Broad Ripple area Marines have met at the Red Key Tavern since around 1976, choosing the location because the Marines were started in a tavern.
