The Indiana Music History Project (IMHP) held a press conference in the Indiana Music History Lounge at Flanner Buchanan, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue [H10 on
map], to announce the start of the Oral History Project with the first 50 video interviews of Indiana music notables. The Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation provided funds for this project. The videos are starting to be added to the
IMHP website.

Afterwards, I talked to Al Finnell, one of the 2025 interview subjects. Al's brother Rudy taught my son John music at Broad Ripple High School and John went on to become the band director at Crispus Attucks High School.
Al Finnell said that he attended Crispus Attucks back when they only had vocal music classes. In a music aptitude testing effort at the school, Al's strong results encouraged the high school to start an instrumental music program. Al ended up in the All-City band and has now been in various jazz and R&B music groups over the past 50 years.
The IMHP main exhibits are on the lower level at the Broad Ripple Flanner Buchanan.
Seated: Indiana musicians Greg Ziesemer (The Spirtles) and Al Finnell.
