BRICS Celebrates 15 Sweet Years with Free Ice Cream, Music, and Community Fun on May 31
posted: May 15, 2025
Beloved local ice cream shop BRICS (Broad Ripple Ice Cream Station) is marking a major milestone-15 years of scooping joy-on Saturday, May 31, from 12:00 to 9:30 PM with a sweet community celebration at its original location at 901 E. 64th Street in the historic Broad Ripple Monon train station.
To say thanks for 15 amazing years, BRICS is handing out free scoops of ice cream-served by our staff and some surprise guest scoopers-alongside live music, games, and prizes for all ages. Guests are invited to bring their friends and families to celebrate on the scenic Monon Trail and enjoy a taste of what makes BRICS special.
Since opening its doors in 2010, BRICS has become a favorite local mainstay for ice cream lovers of all ages. Known for its friendly atmosphere, eco-conscious values, and commitment to community, BRICS has grown from a single neighborhood shop into a small-batch ice cream producer with its own label-Kiki's Ice Cream-now found in scoop shops and stores throughout Indiana. Despite its growth, BRICS remains firmly rooted in its mission to be "the place to chill."
Over the past decade and a half, BRICS has remained committed to its Four Pillars:
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Offering first-time job opportunities to young adults
- Operating in an environmentally conscientious manner
- Building meaningful community partnerships
As a certified carbon neutral business, BRICS leads with sustainability-from metal tasting spoons and reusable dishes to fully compostable carryout packaging. In our commitment to community outreach, the shop has also donated thousands of scoops of ice cream to schools, hospitals, and nonprofits across Indianapolis' northside.
"We're so grateful to the community support we've received since Day One," said co-owner David Vonnegut-Gabovitch. "This celebration is our way of saying thank you-and we can't wait to share this day with customers old and new."
