posted: Feb. 06, 2025
A meeting on public art in Broad Ripple Village was held at the Indianapolis Art Center (IAC), 820 E. 67th Street [A4 on
map], on February 3, 2025. There were around 50 in attendance. The meeting was opened by Jordan Dillon, executive director of the Broad Ripple Village Association (BRVA).
Mark Williams, president and executive director of the IAC, presented the plans to remake the public art space at the IAC ARTSPARK. The plan includes restoring the art space to the designs of the original architect of ARTSPAARK, Michael Graves. This will include raised walkways and new connections with the White River. The project is in the design and permitting phase. The ARTSPARK restoration is expected to be complete in 2026.
Next, Taggart Birge, president and CEO of Cornerstone Companies, Inc. and CEO of Birge & Held, announced his company's support for new public art in Broad Ripple Village. Long-term maintenance for the public art has also been established. Tag then introduced the sculpture artist Jason Myers.
Jason shows a series of slides of his art around the world. His next installation will be on the site of the BRVA metal sign on the northwest corner of Broad Westfield Boulevard and College Avenue, along the canal.
The installation on College should be complete in April. An unveiling is planned.
