Old Town of Broad Ripple Meeting Minutes #223

This historic serial has run on and off in the last 19 years of the Broad Ripple Gazette. The intention is to share the history of Broad Ripple, help people find their ancestors in the text, and to complete the transcriptions of these important early documents.
The Town of Broad Ripple was incorporated in 1894, and started holding regular meetings at that time. In each issue, I will print my transcription of the old Town of Broad Ripple meeting minutes. These are taken from the original, hand-written minutes that contain many spelling errors. I have transcribed all the records as they were entered, including errors. I will make some corrections to the text in brackets [ ]. I will try to include street name changes, such as: Shelby Street became 63rd, then Broad Ripple Avenue, Morgan Street is now Guilford, North is now 64th, Hancock is now Westfield. July 2nd 1907
Board met in regular session. The roll being called as follows
Millard Eaton 1st ward Present
J.D. Sullivan 2nd " Present
B.F. Osborn 3rd " Present
All members being present. The minutes of the previous meeting was read an approved.
Bills were allowed as follows
T.F. Metsker $30 for 1 mo. salary as marshall
Mel. Kail $8. 75/100 for serving 5 days as deputy marshall at $1. 75/100
B.F. Osborn $10 as salary for 6 mo. Service as Town Trustee
Millard Eaton $10 for 6 mo. Service as " "
J.D. Sullivan $10 for 6 mo. Service as " "
F.E. Walls $10 " 6 mo. " " " " Treasurer
JO Brenneman $10 " 6 " " " " " Clerk
90c for 10 gal oil furnished as per bill to Standard Oil Co
The Town Clerk was instructed to have the Town Treasurer to pay of[f] the Haverstick Note and stop interest on same
The Town Clerk was instructed by the Board to employ teams + men and grade the streets + have the dirt hauled off and to open the several street crossings so as to carry off the water + to haul gravel on the streets in front + along Chas. Boardmans property which was in bad condition. No further business appearing, the Board adjourned to meet in special session on July 5th 1907 to consider an Improvement Resolution for cement sidewalks from Shelby Street to the north line of 60th St.
