Random Rippling - Canal Talk at Kiwanis Lunch
posted: Dec. 05, 2024
The Broad Ripple Kiwanis Club has speakers at its lunch meetings at Half Liter Beer & BBQ Hall, 5301 Winthrop Avenue [PP24 on
map]. On October 15, Ed Fujawa spoke on the history of the Central Canal.
Ed talked about how the building of the canal, so Indiana could compete with the other states, ended up bankrupting the state. The only watered section is from the head of the canal in Broad Ripple to downtown. Owned by Citizens Energy Group, it currently supplies about 45% of the water to the treatment plant that serves Indianapolis.
Upcoming Broad Ripple Kiwanis speakers are listed in the Broad Ripple Gazette Random Ripplings calendar.
