The American Crow: The Bird of Halloween
This has become a favorite bird of mine. The American Crow is an intelligent and adaptable bird that has a complex social structure and amazing problem solving skills. You will often hear their caws. But learn to listen for other calls they make by mimicking sounds they hear around them including human speech. They maintain a family group and work together to raise their young, find food, and protect their territory.

They care for each other and the human who may feed them. The crows have been observed mourning a dead crow and even carrying out funerals. They have been known to gives found gifts to a friendly human or dive bomb and scold a person they don't like.
They are such amazing birds that even FaceBook has many groups devoted to them: Crows Are Awesome, Black Crows Group Fan's, Crow Lovers, Friends of Crow, Crow's World, Crow Addict, For the Love of Crows. This is one bird that has so many characteristics, folk lore, and legends that if they capture your imagination, the internet holds massive amounts of knowledge about them. BYW: Crows and Ravens are not the same although both are black birds. I'll let you research the difference on your own!
