It was a shock to hear the announcement that Rene's Bakery, 6524 Cornell Avenue [C4 on map], was closing after 20 years. I first heard it from the Gazette's reporter Frog. Then, I saw the Instagram message stating that further health complications caused owner Albert Rene Trevino to close, at least for now. We wish the best for Albert.

Because of this closure, our Mistakes Can Be Sweet contest is on pause. Maybe we can find another bakery to sponsor it for now.
