Random Rippling - French Horns at Brewpub
posted: Jan. 11, 2024
The holiday performance of the French Horns filled the Broad Ripple Brewpub, 840 E. 65th Street [C5 on
map], to capacity.
According to the Brewpub, "The tradition of the French Horns started with John and Nancy Hill becoming friends with numerous members of the ISO when they were all regulars at The Pawn Shop (back when it was where Binkley's is now). When they opened the Corner Wine Bar in 1982 both the French Horns and a string ensemble played there that Christmas and continued to do it every year. When the Brewpub opened in 1990, they transferred the event there. A few years ago, the string ensemble sadly stopped playing but the French Horns is stronger than ever (for many years there was only 2 of them and now there's as many as 10). So, you can see that it's a very old tradition."
