Random Historic Photo - Westfield Boulevard - Lobraico's Rexall
posted: Nov. 30, 2023

This photo was taken sometime after 1950, as I think that is a 1950 Studebaker Champion parked on the street. This photo was given to us by Earl Carter, owner of the Carter Building on the southwest corner of Westfield and Guilford, back in 2005 at one of the Gazette's Broad Ripple History Saturday meetings.
This photo shows Lobraico's Rexall Drugs at 902 Westfield Boulevard, where Runners Forum is now and where Chelsea's was for many years. The I.O.O.F. (International Order of Odd Fellows) upstairs, where the Red Room is today.
The small building to the right was torn down. Back in the 50s it might have been Ronald Green accountant.
The larger building to the right of that was also torn down. In the 50s is might have been Clifford Barnard Meats or Chicken Delight. It later became Broad Ripple Refinishing and was, I believe, built as a barber shop for a relative of mine, Ulysses Grant Dawson, and had a "DAWSON" limestone set in the front.
