Note to our readers: Letters to the Editor are the opinions of our readers and not necessarily those of this paper.
I applied to be on the BRVA Board. I never got an interview. The Governance Committee picks 5 persons you can vote for as a slate.
Given these turbulent times in the Village, it may be time for BRVA to re-visit this procedure.
Candidates for the Board should be allowed to be voted on individually. The existing Board should not select their 5 favorites for an up or down vote.
As I have done for the last 2 years in which I applied to be a Board member, I emphasized in my application that we need to re boot the Village brand.
"Broad Ripple is Back and it is better than ever" was my campaign slogan. "Take Back the Village" was my theme in last year's application.
This fell on deaf ears. I was never even interviewed this year and got an interview last year but never made it to the hand picked slate.
I will continue to work as a volunteer.
But in the meantime the slated voting procedures of BRVA should be revised to allow BRVA members to vote for the candidates of their choice.
