The award winning People's Planning Academy (PPA) is officially back and the reimagined 2023 installment will run under the theme of People, Arts & Culture. PPA 2023 is a collaboration between DMD & Indy Parks through their Artist in Residence initiative, the inaugural Artist in Residence is Lashawnda Crowe Storm.

PPA 2023 will run on Saturday October 21st and Saturday November 4th from 10am - 3pm on both days, at Riverside Park! We are excited for the opportunity to showcase and discuss the incredible investments that both DMD & Indy Parks have made to this area and its surrounding neighborhoods!

Program Overview - People's Planning Academy (PPA) is an innovative and award-winning training hosted by the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development (DMD) and Indy Parks. The training educates neighbors about city planning in Indianapolis. The goal of PPA is to demystify planning processes and empower neighbors to become stronger advocates for the places they care about. The content of the training is curated to highlight the unique realities of Indianapolis. The classes are instructed by thought leaders from various backgrounds. PPA instructors have included City planning staff, nonprofit professionals, educators, historians, and grassroots organizers. The instructors serve as valuable resources to help create the academy content and help participants achieve their goals.
