Letters From Readers - Question about Dawson Lake
posted: Jul. 27, 2023
Hi there- I'm writing to inquire about the history of Dawson Lake. I can't seem to find anything about when it was dug out. I believe it was excavated for pea gravel, but I'm not even sure about that. Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Hi Jason,
Dawson Lake, located at 6700 Westfield Boulevard [FF26 on
map], was indeed a gravel pit. I am not sure of when the digging began, but the aerial images from
MapIndy, shown below, give some clues.
