On July 20, 2023, Governor Holcomb helped cut the ribbon to open the new Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This building is a makeover of the original Swine Pavilion on the southeast corner of the fairgrounds by Fall Creek Boulevard. The project to plan, design and build the new pavilion began in 2016.

Hundreds gathered in the bleachers of the new, nicely air conditioned, building for the ceremony. Food and drink were provided and souvenirs were handed out to attendees.

The speakers included Eric Holcomb (Governor, Indiana), Cindy Hoye (Executive Director, Indiana State Fairgrounds), Randy Kron (President, Indiana Farm Bureau), Max Siegel (CEO, USA Track & Field), Mitch Frazier (Indiana State Fair Commission Chairman), Matt Claeys (National Swine Registry CEO), and Brad Chambers (Indiana Secretary of Commerce).

A little history - The Indiana State Fair began at Military Park in 1852. It moved to the current 38th Street grounds in 1892. The Swine Pavilion was built as a square, 40,000 sq ft., building in 1923. In 1950 a 40,000 sq. ft. addition was built on the south end.
This 50 million dollar project, completed in time for the 2023 Indiana State Fair, includes a 3 million dollar ground water treatment component that filters the captured water from the fairgrounds before depositing it into nearby Fall Creek.
The press release for the event sums up the facility best, "Built first and foremost as a Best-in-Class Livestock facility, the new building will also be a modern, flexible multi-purpose and multi-use facility with the ability to host a wide variety of events throughout the year. Specifically, the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion was designed to host indoor track and field events. A portable 200-meter, banked track will be installed annually to host local, regional, national and international events. The new building is already slated to host the 2025 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships."
Cindy Hoye also announced that the new building features a 212 foot span between columns which is the largest in Indiana. This allows for the 200-meter track installation (for people racing events, not hogs).
The new pavilion retains original facade with the pig head relief carvings. New carved limestone art by Amy Brier, Indiana sculptor, was installed on the south facade. Reclaimed wood from the original building was used for the barreled ceilings in the north entryways.
New artwork murals were being painted on the walls of those entryways during the ribbon cutting celebration.
After the ribbon cutting, attendees could tour all areas of the 196,000 sq. ft. facility, including first aid, public safety, break rooms, and the storerooms. Two buffet areas were provided by Urick Concessions.
