The
Buselli/Wallarab Jazz Orchestra (BWJO) played two sold out shows at the Jazz Kitchen, 5377 N. College Avenue [OO23 on
map], on April 30, 2023. The shows were a kick-off for the pre-release of the BWJO recording
The Gennett Suite (pronouced Jen-Net). Brent Wallarab arranged the four movement tribute to the history of Gennett Records, Richmond, Indiana. Gennett Records recorded much of the great early jazz of the 1920s, such as Jelly Roll Morton, Bix Beiderbecke, Hoagy Carmichael and the first studio recordings of Louis Armstrong.
The Gennett Suite recording project was sponsored by the
Indiana Entertainment Foundation.
The official release of the 2-CD set is expected in June. There is a pre-order page on the BWJO website.
