Bicycle Indiana has announced that they have hired a new Executive Director to lead the statewide bicycle advocacy organization. A Terre Haute native and resident, Margaret Barawskashas joined the organization effective April 3, 2023. Margaret has strong experience in non-profit management in the cycling industry. She led the Indiana Interscholastic Cycling League with the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) for over three years and strived to get more kids, coaches, and families on bikes across the state.

Founded in 1993, Bicycle Indiana continues to strive for equity and raising the bar for statewide impact in the areas of advocacy, partnerships, education, and engagement. For more than a quarter of a century, Bicycle Indiana has worked to make Indiana a more bicycle friendly state and destination.
As Bicycle Indiana looks forward with new leadership, the organization hopes to achieve their Strategic Plan by educating our communities, engaging its membership, developing partnerships, and increasing legislative awareness across Indiana.
Margaret hopes to tour the state and come to a town near you. If you want to connect with her and the organization, please reach out today to info@bicycleindiana.org.
About Bicycle Indiana
Bicycle Indiana has been the voice for safe bicycling and relied primarily on legislative action to protect bicyclists. We recognize, however, that calls for increased legislation and enforcement means that Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) are faced with the fear of racism, harassment or even the loss of life.
Bicycle Indiana believes that bicycling is powerful. It represents health, environmentalism, camaraderie, fun, community, transportation, and freedom. Bicycle Indiana is committed to ensuring that this sense of freedom in bicycling includes being free from fear, harassment, threats of violence and over policing for every Hoosier who rides a bicycle. When we say "safe" we mean safe for bicycle riders of all ages and genders including BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, persons with disabilities. We must ensure all people can move through our spaces, streets and trails safely and freely.
