The following story/poem is a reflection of reading my poetry with Joe Harrison playing the guitar in 2000.

Me and Joe

Joe Harrison
has supertalent
for playing
the guitar.

I used to read
my poetry
at
the old Cornerstone Coffee.
Joe would accompany me
on the electric guitar.
(He was then in high school at Broad Ripple)

It amazed me
every time
what his playing
did for
my poetry.

The youths
would pour in
for the performance.
They would pour out
right after
we had finished.

It was a profound
compliment, indeed.
And I rested secure
in the knowledge
that the young
Joe Harrison
had just made
my poetry
10 x's better
by playing
his guitar.
