Mayor Joe Hogsett, Indy DPW Announce Opening Of 2023 Indy Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership Program Application
posted: Dec. 15, 2022

Mayor Joe Hogsett joined the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (Indy DPW) to kick-off the 2023 Indy Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership (INIP) Program application window. Not-for-profit and community-based organizations across the county are invited to submit their proposals to the matching grant program for transportation infrastructure projects that include sidewalks, street resurfacing, multi-use paths and bridges. 2023 will be the sixth year of this program.
Hosted at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site (a previous partner who contributed to the rehabilitation of nearby Talbot Street), Mayor Hogsett, Indy DPW leadership, and City-County Council members highlighted the collaborative nature of the grant program between Indy DPW and neighborhood organizations.
"Through the Indianapolis Neighborhood Partnership Program, our Department of Public Works has allowed for transportation dollars to be stretched further while increasing connectivity and accessibility throughout the City," said Mayor Joe Hogsett. "We will be able to see the positive results of this program for decades to come."
Application materials-including both a program description and a form for submissions-are now available here.
"INIP empowers local neighborhoods and organizations to be creative while improving neighborhood infrastructure and the quality of life in their communities," said City-County Councillor Dan Boots, District 3. "My colleagues on the Council and I are proud to support this partnership with DPW, and I hope everyone takes advantage of this wonderful opportunity and applies for an INIP grant for their neighborhood."
Indy Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership project applications for 2023 will be accepted between December 1, 2021 and February 15, 2023. Funding awards will be made up to a maximum of $500,000 per project with a total of $2 million available. Selections for the 2023 cohort of conditional INIP partner projects will be announced in the spring of 2023.
Applicants with questions about INIP should contact DPWEngineering@indy.gov.
In December 2017, Mayor Hogsett first announced that DPW would accept proposals from community-based organizations for infrastructure projects under a matching fund pilot program. Since then, Indy DPW has awarded more than $11.2 million in the last five years to help fund more than 50 different INIP projects in neighborhoods across Marion County.
