Random Rippling - Glendale Library Groundbreaking
posted: Apr. 28, 2022
On April 21, 2022, the Indianapolis Public Library broke ground on the new location for the Glendale branch. The new location is the old site of John Strange School at 62nd and Olney Street. A time capsule, placed by students in 1975, was uncovered and opened.
A little history of the library in the Broad Ripple area - in 1949 the branch opened next to School 80 on Guilford (today this is Boardable, before that it was SmallBox), in 1986 the branch moved to Broad Ripple Park (in what was recently torn down for the new family center), and in 2000 it moved to Glendale Mall, above Staples.
The new branch, delayed due to COVID, is now expected to open summer 2023.
It was a rainy day
