Flanner Buchanan Mortuary, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue [H10 on map], was the site of a book signing event for Julie Young's new book Building Community: The Flanner and Buchanan Families of Indianapolis, published by the Indiana Historical Society Press. As Bruce Buchanan explained at the event, the book is a history of his family's legacy in Indianapolis and not just a history of its funeral businesses.
