Park Tudor opens new Irsay Family Sports Center for Health and Wellness
posted: Dec. 16, 2021

Park Tudor announced the opening of the Irsay Family Sports Center for Health and Wellness, an inspiring learning environment that will serve as the new home for Park Tudor athletics and health and wellness classes.
The $27 million state-of-the-art facility is focused on health and wellness, adding to campus life for students of all ages. It has multiple gymnasiums, including a varsity gym large enough to host the entire student body for school-wide assemblies. There is also a fieldhouse on the second floor that can be divided into three sports courts.
The wellness center also has a multipurpose studio, weight room, bouldering wall, cardio fitness room and seminar classroom, as well as community spaces and places for students to gather. One such area has been dubbed the "social staircase," with outlets alongside the wide steps for students to charge electronic devices and recharge with friends.
The new building features a full-service café with a coffee bar and nutritional foods like smoothies and salads. A walking track on the upper level is a place to get some laps in during students' downtime or in between classes.
Students will take fun and creative classes at the wellness center, with units focusing on wellness and fitness where they will learn about healthy eating habits, nutrition, hydration and exercise.
"The Irsay Family Sports Center for Health and Wellness is a place for our students to learn essential life skills while they play, get their heart rates up and have fun," said Andrea Calvert-Sanders, director of wellness programs and facilities. "We are taking physical education classes to a new level and encouraging a lifelong learning of wellness."
The facility will also be used to host conferences and events like alumni reunion weekends. Boys' and girls' locker rooms are equal in size and amenities, and private gender-neutral areas are available.
