Neighborhood Crime Watch
posted: Sept. 16, 2021

"The purpose of the Neighborhood Crime Watch program is to make you aware of the steps you can take to make your home and your neighborhood safer, and how to improve your community's quality of life"
IMPD Crime Watch is a Crime Prevention and Community Building Program encouraging the proactive participation of residents to positively impact the safety and quality of life of their communities. It is the logical first step for any community to get organized and be proactive in the fight against crime. You and your neighbors can help each other protect your entire community, making local law enforcement agencies more effective in the fight against crime through your involvement and participation. There is no cost, requires minimal effort, and every single person in your community is welcomed to participate.
IMPD Crime Watch encourages neighbors to get to know each other and their routines, so that any "out of place" activities can be observed, recognized for what they are, and reported timely and accurately in order to be investigated by Law Enforcement or other agencies in Indianapolis.
The Crime Watch Program introduce participants to techniques to help reduce the risks of being victimized at home, at work, in their vehicles and while in public places. It educates participants on the importance of recognizing suspicious activities, evaluate them and to report them properly. It also teaches members how to make their homes and businesses safer, and to identify, inventory and secure their property.
You can make a positive impact in your community. Please let me know if you would be interested in having a Crime Watch/Crime Prevention & Safety presentation for you and your neighbors. This could be the first step towards creating a safer, more engaged and all-around better community.
