Below are 2 more poems by the talented Neil Cain:
To be shapeless
To be shapeless
and transitory
manifesting only when required
by the pressures of an expansive, elusory cultural critical mass
like the takeover of spontaneity in the streets of cities worldwide
commerce halted and communion prevailing in exaltation
every exhale carrying with it words of rejuvenation
healing simply with the prescience
of creative forces fed back
into themselves
a shrouded prism
suddenly hit
by the sun
retracting
light
endlessly
and our wavelengths are changed
On the shores of distant future
Reconstituted simultaneously
as reconstructions of past memories
mirrored in aquarium glass
distorted by water
and filtered thru a matrix
cross-referenced with an encyclopedia of dead ends,
dreams,
the words of friends,
the feeling of a street corner
lost in the foreign lands of my youth
then distilled by hard labor
and endless pursuit
and what's left is bottled
and taken to the hills
and for every foot I've walked,
a foot is drilled
straight down into the depths of the earth
and dropped into the hole
my condensed soul
to be hardened by the pressure
a gem to be washed up on the shores of distant future
