With all of the controversy surrounding the old caboose that has sat alongside the Monon Trail near 65th Street for decades, when I ran across this old news story I decided to share it with our readers.

It was published in the much missed Broad Ripple newspaper The Village Sampler. The Sampler was published by Lillian Barcio in the late 1980s through the late 1990s. Like the Broad Ripple Gazette, it was a free paper that contained lots of history.
