Another Poem By Neil Cain
Below is another poem by Neil Cain. Like this last poem, I enjoy it thoroughly. I hope you dig it, too.
The Light at our backs
What is mind but a pane of glass,
tilted to see the reflection of the light at our backs?
And what is time but a waste of thoughts?
To have, to have not,
to be, to be sought,
to be left lonesome by the side of the road
to the tune of the passing car drone
Without will I am heavenly and free,
call me a fool as I stand like a tree
content implies conception,
so I won't say anything at all,
emptiness has taken me and broken my fall
from what is now nothing,
I heed the call
of gravity...
like a sinking stone
flying towards what we've always known
I've made room in my head for visitors,
won't you come and stay?
We'll make meals out of memories as records play
and sculpt verse out of words like meaningless clay,
that when given shape become so profound in a way
