This one is from 2010. Note that, once again, most of the places CW mentions are gone, only Jazz Kitchen remains. - Alan
In 1999 I wrote many poems while sitting in Dwain Reeves' Lazy Boy chair in his apartment at 54th and College. It was and is such a vibrant and beautiful neighborhood. The Bulldog Lounge, The Jazz Kitchen, Cath, Modern Times, Northside News, and Atlas could all be seen from the Lazy Boy. Dogs and their walkers often passed leisurely by.
Below is a poem I wrote from that comfortable spot. It is about clarity of thought in a technological age.
Choosing Consciousness
A guru
A veritable Holy Man
Has a message
For You
Do you want him to
Read it?
Say it?
Telegraph it?
Telephone it?
Televise it?
E-Mail it?
Or would you rather
Just feel it?
