This issue's Random Historic Photo is probably from around 1930. It is of a delivery truck for "BROADRIPPLE DEPT. STORE" (oddly, Broad Ripple is one word here). The photo album caption says the small girl in the photo is Betty Jane Harrison.
The 1930 city directory lists the store at 928 Riviera Drive. This portion of Riviera was later renamed Westfield Boulevard. This address, 928, is was where the parking lot is today for The Bungalow [G5 on
map]. In 1930 the building was twice as wide and occupied two addresses, 924 and 928. The Broad Ripple Department Store was owned by J.F. Kassebaum. In 1928 Kassebaum built the Kassebaum Building that stands today (southeast corner of Guilford and Westfield).
