Civic Theatre Returns To Live Theatre With Light On The Horizon
posted: Apr. 01, 2021

Civic Theatre in Carmel is returning to live, in-person events with LIGHT ON THE HORIZON. This original show will highlight what Civic is offering in its 2021-22 Season and marks the return to live performances for the first time in over a year.
LIGHT ON THE HORIZON will be performed in the Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts with eight live performances between April 30th and May 15th. This show will include performers from past and upcoming Civic productions. Many of these performers are from Civic's cast of THE COLOR PURPLE, which was originally scheduled for this spring. Due to capacity limitations, THE COLOR PURPLE has been postponed until October 2021.
Along with LIGHT ON THE HORIZON, Civic will produce A FEW GOOD MEN in the Studio Theater, which will run from May 12th to May 22nd. A FEW GOOD MEN was postponed last March due to the spread of COVID-19 and the suspension of campus-wide activities. Civic is excited to welcome back previous cast members as well as some new performers for this production. This Broadway hit tells the story of the trial of two Marines for complicity in the death of a fellow Marine at Guantanamo Bay.
While the return to in-person performances does not come without risk, Civic is taking every possible precaution to welcome back its patrons. Both theatres can be seated at 25% capacity while observing social distancing. Every attendee will also be required to wear a mask at all times while in the building. Civic will reevaluate these protocols as needed. Additionally, each of these productions will include two live-streamed performances and an on-demand option for those who wish to view at home.

Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre is the largest of more than 70 community theaters in Indiana and is one of the 10 largest active community theatres in the United States. Civic has been a vital part of the cultural landscape throughout Central Indiana for over 100 years. Civic is the principal resident company of the Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel.
