Indianapolis residents encouraged to participate in Blue Lights National Night Out
posted: Jul. 30, 2020
National Night Out, "America's Night Out Against Crime," will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2020! In observance of CDC restrictions, this year's celebration will be modified to a Blue Lights National Night Out. Residents will be encouraged to turn on an outside blue light that will allow for a socially-distanced acknowledgement of this long-standing police/community engagement!
In the past, Indianapolis has joined forces with over 38 million people in more than 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide who will take part in promoting police-community partnerships; crime, drug and violence prevention; safety and neighborhood unity. This year, National Association of Town Watch has encouraged community members to reschedule National Night Out to October 6th, 2020. Indianapolis will not be participating on this date, but hope to return to this model next year to continue this long-standing tradition!
