The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) Board approved a contract today for a project which includes a multimodal path and enhanced crosswalks, connecting Newfields to the Central Canal Towpath.

This $489,718 project also includes the installation of a crosswalk at 40th Street and Michigan Road as well as enhancing the existing crosswalks at 42nd Street and Michigan Road and 38th Street and Woodstock Drive.

Scheduled to be complete in Spring 2020, this project was submitted by Newfields in the first year of Mayor Joe Hogsett's Indianapolis Neighborhood Infrastructure Partnership program; this matching grant program encourages community-based organizations to submit infrastructure project ideas for review and selection as a part of DPW's capital improvement planning.
