Poetic Thoughts - Purging Personal Poetry - by C.W. Pruitt II

Sometimes poetry flows effortlessly and it brings me a lot of joy. At other times I am experiencing inner turbulence which seems to make writing impossible. During these times, poetry may allow me to process my pain and bring to me a mellower state of being. It is then that poetry becomes more than a hobby.
Below is a poem about struggling to write poetry:
Purging Personal Poetry
there is so much to say
so i will make it personal
but the harder i try
to focus deep within
the more it becomes
a poem about society
(and that seems as bad as me)
so i branch out
to ultimate divine things
(this seems more comforting)
thank God
for refuge from
ugly poetry topics
