Here is a little poem about the modern day paradox of development:

Destruction
We now call
Development
Corporate Take-Over
Community Make-Over
Made to look like
All the others -
small businesses
are crushed;
I doubt that
Adam Smith
could have foreseen
Corporations -
ruthless and mean
keeping the appearance
of being clean
cutting up the
smaller businesses
under selling
then raising high
The older landscape
has no chance
From the brutal
corporate lance
And now the
Supreme Court
finds it sound
That they can
take your home
crush it to the ground
to build
more cookie-cutter
facilities
to sprinkle across
the landscape
forevermore
