The Jazz Kitchen recently hosted the latest Uncle Dan and Sophie Jam. It was a sold out event. Local author Dan Wakefield (Going All The Way) led the discussion about the life of Cole Porter ( from Peru, Indiana) with author and Cole Porter researcher Cathy Day (also from Peru), and musician Sophie Fraught. Day is the author of The Circus in Winter and is working on a new book. The musical portion was all Cole Porter hits performed by saxophonist Sophie Faught, singer Julie Houston, and guitarist Joel Tucker.

Dan talked about his days at School 80 (across from the Broad Ripple Kroger) and shared a story of seeing Roy Rogers and his horse Trigger at the Vogue Theater back in the 40s.
