The Indiana Repertory Theatre invited the Broad Ripple Gazette to opening night of a contemporary staging of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, the story of young lovers struggling to survive amid old hatreds. The vibrant and lively play speaks boldly across centuries to the divided world we live in today. The costumes are present day, the words are Shakespeare, with a slightly modern nod with a fresh energy.

Romeo and Juliet runs through Sunday, March 4 at Indiana Repertory Theatre Upperstage, 140 W. Washington Street.
