The Wine Scene: by Jill A. Ditmire

Bubbles for the Bird
Champagne. Cava. Spumante. Frizzante. Prosecco. Sparkling wines can be red, white or pink, dry or sweet, filled with big bubbles or a small persistent fizz. You can pay dozens of dollars or a few bucks for a bottle. No matter what the style, sparkling wines always add a sense of celebration to any occasion. Serve them in a tall flute glass to see the bubbles. Pour over shaved ice and enjoy a sassy slush. Add frozen berries for a kick of color and natural way to make sure each sip is cool and crisp. J Vineyards Cuvee 20 is lush and creamy with notes of apples and lemon meringue. Sparkling Vinho Verde rose from Portugal looks like rubies in the glass and offers up off dry notes of cranberry and wild strawberry. Needless to say either will add a sense of cheer to your Turkey Day table.

More Splashes of Fun
Broad Ripple area artists Justin Vining and Johnny McKee take their visual whimsy to Fountain Square this month with a month-long show at New Day Craft. These talented, humble artists and teachers step away from the serious side of their art by using beans, embroidery and LEGOs to remind us all that art IS everywhere. Must see for those who love to smile.
Kudos to the JCC for hosting a fabulous Spirit & Place event on Nov 5th. Young poets from Word as Bond and Herron High delivered powerful spoken word while the athletically graceful members of Dance Kaleidoscope added movement. Standing ovation for all. And it was FREE. Stop by to see the uplifting paintings of Cindy Wingo in the lobby.
