Gennesaret Free Clinics Announces Dynamic Duo To Headline Hoosier Humanitarian Day
Since a "dynamic duo" can be defined as any pair of heroes or would-be heroes, not just Batman and Robin, GENNESARET FREE CLINICS has claimed the phrase to announce its two Hoosier Humanitarian Day headliners.
Dr. A. Janelle Goetches has been named recipient of the first Hoosier Humanitarian Day award to be presented August 20, 2017 at the Biltwell event center. A 1964 graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Goetches' mission in the District of Columbia has spanned forty years, providing healthcare services to the homeless and indigent. When she founded Christ House in 1985, a 32 bed temporary residential respite care facility for homeless persons, it was the only one of its kind in the nation. It would catch the attention of Dr. James Trippi and serve as the model for establishing GENNESARET FREE CLINICS' Men's Health Recovery Program in 2000. "Indiana and my faith in God are my real roots," Dr. Goetches said in an interview for Medscape General Medicine in 2001. "That's where my life and where my vocation began." December 30, 2014, was declared Janelle Goetches, MD Day by the Washington DC City Council in celebration of her life and career. GFC looks forward to similarly recognizing her in August, in Indiana where she grew up.
Jill Ditmire, a 1986 graduate of Butler University with a BS in Radio/Television and Journalism/Political Science is a popular broadcast professional, author and columnist (Broad Ripple Gazette), teacher, former retailer and AWS Certified Wine Judge. Ditmire will serve as Honorary Chair and Mistress of Ceremonies for the Hoosier Humanitarian Day - Party with a Purpose: A Salute to Unsung Heroes.
GENNESARET FREE CLINICS, the Indianapolis 501-c-3 not for-profit made up of healthcare professionals and other concerned individuals who volunteer talents and training to provide medical, dental and wellness services to the homeless and indigent, created "Hoosier Humanitarian Day" as a way to build awareness of Indiana's humanitarian needs and providers and to inspire continued help and support in the years to come
