Treasure Hunt
On my recent trip to California I sampled a bevy of rose wines including an outstanding offering from Costco's own Kirkland Signature label. The shimmery salmon colored liquid was enticing to the eye. The soft floral nose and crisp dry flavors of wild strawberry, raspberry and a hint of orange peel made this one of the most delicious rose style wines I've sampled in quite some time. It's made from a blend of 6 red grapes at a winery in the south of France where some of the world's most sought after (and expensive) rose wines are produced. One of the winemakers is renowned oenologist Michel Rolland, who has been making wines at some of the most prestigious wineries in France and Argentina for the last 30 years. With credentials like that, I figured it was pricey. I was wrong. This dazzling dry rose sold for less than 10 bucks! I am still waiting to see it on a Costco shelf in Indiana, but if you do, be sure to pick up a bottle or a case as this is an incredible value.
