Poetic Thoughts - To: Betty Friedan - by C.W. Pruitt II
posted: Mar. 31, 2017
I am an admirer of Betty Friedan. She became famous for writing The Feminine Mystique. I became her fan after reading The Fountain of Age. This poem is dedicated to her:
To: Betty Friedan
I don't really care
what our
youth-obsessed culture
may say
I look forward
to wrinkles,
I look forward
to gray
we have put
ourselves into
an immature cage
so fearful
of changing
not turning the page
as our society
grows older
we should
listen to the sage
and look forward to experiencing
the Fountain of Age.
with love,
C.W. Pruitt II
