Tis The Season
Oh what fun it was to see the hundreds of smiling faces as people lined the streets watching and welcoming the holiday season to the Village during the Broad Ripple Lights Up parade. The kids, the pets, the cars, the singing reindeer added warmth and glee to the cold late afternoon air. Santa expertly led the carols then flipped the switch that turned the drab winter scene around the firehouse into a merry glow of holiday lights. The BRVA float with the giant duck wearing a Santa cap brought plenty of Ho Ho Ho to all who came together to experience the simple yet fulfilling gesture of turning darkness into light.
The December edition of Carmel's Second Saturday Art Walk features a number of Broad Ripple artists and artisans. Main Street is a short drive from the village and a walk up and down that street offers galleries showcasing all kinds of art. Most are open daily and you can see art and talk with the artists at French Blue Gallery (the "12x12" show is terrific!) Inspire Studio, Hoosier Salon and the Upstairs Studio just around its corner where you'll find former Broad Ripple artists offering classes and work.
WINTER WARMERS
Parade watching, gallery strolling and upcoming holidays call for FUN wine.
Winzerwald Pumpkin Spice - Indiana's own softly sweet wine laced with cinnamon and nutmeg. Comes in a Christmas Tree bottle. Warm it up and serve with a slice of German stollen from Perk Up Cafe. Spotted some at Market District Grocery.
Flechas de los Andes Gran Malbec - this Bold Red wine from Argentina pairs perfectly with beef. It's Kosher so take note if brisket is on your Hanukkah menu. Notes of mulberry, black currant and spice with a tooth purpling long full finish. Hope you've been nice not naughty so Santa includes a case for you in his sleigh.
