posted: Oct. 28, 2016
The Bungalow, 924 Westfield Boulevard [G5 on map], partnered with ArtMix for the October 14, 2016, Art Walk in Broad Ripple Village. ArtMix is the non-profit arts organization formerly known as VSA Indiana. ArtMix provides a number of noteworthy arts programs that benefit people of all ages with disabilities, helping them find acceptance in an inclusive environment.
A variety of work from participants in ArtMix's Urban Artisans program will be on display at the Bungalow through November 11th, including ceramics and paintings. The Urban Artisans program is a vocational training internship for students 15-22 transitioning from school to the workplace. The program teaches interns the necessary skills they need in order to get and keep a job.
The Urban Artisans program was one of twelve awardees selected from over 285 nominations for the 2015 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, presented in Washington DC by First Lady Michelle Obama. Staff Member Linda Wisler and intern artist Meghan McNeal traveled to Washington to receive the award.
